Willow Airport. The Willow Airport is comprised of a float plane lake and 4,000 lf gravel runway. The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (AKDOTPF) Area Planner notified Willow's Comprehensive Planning Team the department will complete a Master Plan and evaluate a potential relocation of the Airport due to expansion of the Park's Highway, Airport Land Use and Airport Compatible Land Use Issues. The community formed the Willow Airport Support Group to represent the residents, local businesses, airport users and lessees to educate the ADOT on the value of the community airport to the economy of Willow and importance of the airport system to the regional aviation community. The Alaska Airports Association provided techinical assistance to the community to develop their local organization.
Public Meeting Announcement
The State of Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities is holding a Public Meeting for the Willow Airport Master Plan project on Thursday, February 18, 2010. This meeting will take place in the multi-purpose room of the Willow Elementary School, located at 31706 West Parks Highway. Please join us at our public meeting. The purpose of the meeting is to present the Willow Airport Master Plan project, identify issues, and take public comments and questions.
